Job Title:Skateboard Specialist (Bikes and scooters too)
Department/Program:Island Quest Day Camp
Reports to:Program Director/Quest Directors
Camp Background:Island Quest Day Camp joins the agencies of Commonpoint Queens, Friedberg JCC, Suffolk Y JCC, & Gural JCC to introduce an innovative day camp located in Wheatley Heights at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds. Island Quest Day Camp is open to ages 4-15 and will provide a unique opportunity for campers as they find their quest through seek, innovate and compete program areas.
Camp Dates:
2026 Season: June 29-August 20
Monday to Friday: 9 am to 3:30pm
PAY:$4,000-$4,500 for the summer
Responsibilities include but are not limited:
  • Available for all pre-season staff trainings (selected days in Spring 2026).
  • Structuring assignments and projects to encourage students to work together in a variety of formal and informal ways, and provide ongoing support for them to do so.
  • Maintain a skatepark and keep good organization of the equipment both when in use and when not in use.
  • Instruct Counselors and Campers on safe use of equipment.
  • Ability to teach campers on how to safely ride a bike, scooter, and skateboard based upon age-appropriate levels.
  • Help order all necessary equipment, ensuring purchases stay within the program budget while maintaining quality and performance standards.

Essential Job Functions Pre Camp:
  • Staff Trainings.
  • Attend planning meetings & program development (as needed).
  • CPR/First Aid Training (as needed).
  • Help in developing the scope and sequence of quest (specialty) curriculum and personalize and implement lesson plans.
  • Participate in training and collaborative lesson planning and scheduling.
  • Help get program going by ordering all equipment in a timely manner and ensuring it is stored properly.
