The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior E-Filing Clerk to join our Firm. This position will be based in our Los Angeles office (hybrid).

Position Overview

The Senior E-Filing Clerk processes complex filings, answers procedural questions, provides strategic calendar guidance, and conducts docket research using advanced online litigation software tools for our Los Angeles Managing Law Clerks ("MLC") department. Collaborates with MLC personnel, utilizes various department internal systems and technologies to automate the delivery of federal and state court filings.

Responsibilities

  • Processes complex filings in state and federal courts + alternative dispute resolution jurisdictions (JAMS, AAA, etc.)
  • Review documents for rule compliance prior to service and filing.
  • Provides strategic calendar guidance using the Firm's calendar software.
  • Conducts docket research using various vendor platforms to support attorneys with procedural guidance, filings and case strategies.
  • Notifies the Managing Law Clerks Manager promptly of any filing, vendor, or operational issues that may arise within the department.
  • Ability to communicate with various court personnel and vendors.
  • Retrieve decisions, pleadings, motion papers in various courts/agencies throughout the U.S.
  • Places filings, services of process related documents, and content from document retrieval requests in the department database-ensuring department analytics retention.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to requests into the department, with high-quality work product that aligns with Firm values.
  • Assist to maintain cases through vendor PacerPro, Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER), and other vendors the department utilizes.
  • Monitor various local jurisdictions for new and updated rules, administrative orders, and internal operating procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Federal and California state practice and rules.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to facilitate high-quality work product.
  • Working knowledge of conventional and electronic filings in various state and federal courts.
  • Enhanced understanding of local state and federal court operations.
  • Capable of managing projects, tasks and remain organized while prioritizing work.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality

Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law. This position is eligible for overtime pay and may be eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.

Salary Details

$100,000 - $115,000
