POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to implement the parish family's commitment to youth ministry by forming a vibrant community of parish youth and helping them become faithful, lifelong Catholic disciples. This position coordinates the youth ministry environment, volunteer teams, events, communications, and operations that help youth receive, practice, and live their formation.
POSITION SCOPE
This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position that includes evening and weekend work.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Youth Ministry
1. Plans, coordinates, and carries out the day-to-day operations of parish youth ministry as assigned, including youth gatherings, small groups, social events, service opportunities, retreats, conferences, youth worship opportunities, and other approved initiatives.
2. Collaborates with appropriate staff and volunteers to expertly implement approved catechetical content and curriculum in youth ministry gatherings, retreats, small groups, and related formation settings.
3. Presents the Catholic faith in a manner suited to age and circumstances, encouraging growth through Scripture, prayer, sacramental life, and participation in the parish community.
4. Builds appropriate pastoral relationships with youth and families through regular and appropriate presence, communication, and accompaniment, in accord with Safe Environment requirements and professional boundaries.
5. Maintains regular communication with parents and parish staff regarding youth ministry schedules, expectations, registration, permissions, formation themes, follow-ups, and the practical ways parents can support faith formation at home.
6. Coordinates or supports youth sacramental preparation activities, especially Confirmation and Christian initiation adapted for teens as assigned, in collaboration with clergy, appropriate staff, and volunteers.
7. Designs, coordinates, and leads retreats, conferences, service opportunities, and other youth ministry events - ensuring appropriate preparation, logistics, supervision, and follow-up.
8. Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, supports, and evaluates adult volunteers, Core leaders and mentors, aides, and youth leaders - ensuring completion of required documentation and Safe Environment training.
9. Coordinates logistics for youth ministry activities, including calendars, facilities, registration, permissions, transportation, supplies, food, publicity, set-up/clean-up, and other operational details.
10. Collaborates with school leadership, related staff, and ministries/apostolates to integrate youth into the broader life and mission of the parish family.
11. Assists in the planning and execution of youth ministry fundraising and awareness campaigns, as assigned.
General
12. Directs and evaluates assigned programs in accord with parish, Archdiocesan, and universal Church norms, including planning, promotion, implementation, and annual review.
13. Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates volunteers; ensures Safe Environment compliance; and fosters a culture of faith and charity among ministry teams.
14. Secures and stewards materials, equipment, and resources needed to carry out assigned programs.
15. Maintains accurate, current, and confidential records and support systems for assigned programs.
16. Prepares and manages the program budget as assigned, monitoring expenditures in accord with parish policy.
17. Participates in staff meetings and required formation; collaborates with staff and, as appropriate, regional/deanery efforts.
18. Maintains ongoing spiritual and professional development appropriate to the role.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
