Job description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Business Process Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating process improvement projects using LEAN Six Sigma methodologies and tools.   Based on the defined strategic goals of the organization and department, leads LEAN and Six Sigma project teams to desired outcomes. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provides process analysis and makes recommendations for process improvement throughout all areas of the organization.
    • Applies knowledge of LEAN methodologies to mitigate waste, decrease cost, and improve outcomes.
    • Strives to support and enable the organization to become more self-sufficient and self-sustaining in process improvement endeavors. 
    • Assists in setting the strategy for LEAN Six Sigma project implementation.
    • Working with executive leadership, selects and prioritizes projects using techniques including but not limited to a SWOT analysis to ensure work alignment with organizational strategic priorities.
    • Completes projects in a timely manner.
    • Trains team members on how to use LEAN Six Sigma tools and techniques to include but not limited to control charts, histograms and root cause analysis.
    • Provides guidance, mentoring and evaluation of the LEAN project team.
    • Creates project plans and guides team members to meet projects goals.
    • Collaborates in the planning for clinical care services and assures implementation of key strategies to meet system and facility goals for clinical care, service, and financial results.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Certification as a Master Black Belt (MBBSS) or Black Belt (BBSS) in Six Sigma including ASQ Body of Knowledge encouraged; however, would support on-the-job training and certification if necessary.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent field of study.
    • Masters degree preferred or minimum  of  5 + years work experience in a healthcare setting in quality role applying LEAN-Six Sigma and other data driven  improvement methodologies. 
    • Demonstrated ability to display information persuasively in support of data-driven decision making.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Project.
    • Must possess exceptional leadership, interpersonal, written and verbal communication with people at all levels of an organization.

    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
