JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Lean Six Sigma Engineer is recognized as a leader with a proven record of success. This position is frequently executing multiple projects with difficult scope and significant impact and is expected to develop project direction as well as developing and coaching company lean six sigma belts. They will be expected to develop, implement, and teach new process improvement methodologies, business practices, and business metrics. This individual will also be responsible for helping to sustain the improvements by imbedding proper control measures and metrics and developing process owner accountability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  1. Steward our mission (to enrich lives by providing differentiated packaging automation and services) and values (unwavering integrity, servant's heart, ownership spirit and continuous innovation and improvement).
  2. Identified as a leader, trainer, and coach in Lean Six Sigma methodologies throughout the company.
  3. Mentors fellow Lean Six Sigma team members and serves as a role model for others in the company by living the Douglas Values.
  4. Spearheads the CI&I Community of Practice.
  5. Delivers improved productivity, processes, and financial results by leading highly cross-functional improvement teams and improvement projects at the company level. Capable of financial impact that equates to at least 2 times the employee's salary.
  6. Qualifies and quantifies all process improvements for their business case, cost impact, and return on investment.
  7. Identifies key gaps in project goals and metrics and provides multiple options to improve and control the scope and direction of the project.
  8. Ability to adapt expectations to match project team members' knowledge, personality types, and skill sets.
  9. Capable of high levels of self-reflection, identification, and communication of strengths and weaknesses, and the ability to ask for help and perform self-improvement.
  10. Identifies and implements best practices and change management across all business processes.
  11. Demonstrates a strong ability to partner with project team members and work through challenges together, thus eliminating the need for leadership intervention.
  12. Actively learn, develop, and positively communicate company best practices, policies, procedures, and vision across the company.
  13. Celebrates and recognizes great successes with fellow employee owners. Identifies recognition opportunities for others to provide.
  14. Ability to create SMART goals and to track and demonstrate the success of them.
  15. Provides timely project schedule, status and concern updates to project team and management with suggested countermeasures if it is required to achieve project success.
  16. Communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully. Mitigate team conflict and communication problems.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Must possess both excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Accomplished computer and system skills including Microsoft software (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, and MiniTab or equivalent).
  • Capable of utilizing CAD software if necessary.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with MRP or other related systems.
  • Possesses strong organizational and research skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time well and troubleshoot.
  • Able to root cause and identify/implement solutions for problems.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently and responsibly at an above average level with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to teach and mentor others through various Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Preferred Masters in Industrial Engineering, technical MBA, or BS in engineering with certifications in quality, project management, or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience is desirable.
  • Highly proficient with various process improvement tools such as Lean methodologies, Six Sigma Methodologies, Statistics, Value Stream Mapping, Pareto Analysis and FMEA.
  • Experience in a pivotal role of a continuous improvement implementation.
  • Experience in the use, application and implementation of a Management System.
