Job description

Job Title: Six Sigma Black Belt Consultant
Location: Hybrid, Tennessee (TN)
Seniority on the skill/s required on this requirement: Senior
Estimated Duration: 6 months contract with possible extension
Work authorization: USC, GC

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Six Sigma Black Belt Consultant to lead enterprise process improvement initiatives across operations, service delivery, and business functions. This role will drive measurable business value for clients by identifying inefficiencies, reducing variation, and improving process performance through disciplined Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex Lean Six Sigma projects using DMAIC, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, process mapping, control plans, and statistical analysis
  • Assess current-state workflows, processes, and data handoffs to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with client business leaders and cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, etc.) to define measurable improvement objectives and prioritize high-value initiatives
  • Develop project charters, business cases, benefit estimates, milestone plans, risk logs, and stakeholder communication plans
  • Use operational metrics and performance indicators to quantify defects, delays, rework, backlog, and service-level performance
  • Design improved workflows that increase efficiency, standardize execution, and reduce manual work
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops, Kaizen events, and process governance forums to align stakeholders and drive change adoption
  • Mentor Green Belts, project managers, and process owners on Lean Six Sigma tools and problem-solving techniques
  • Establish control mechanisms, dashboards, KPIs, and sustainment plans to ensure improvements are maintained
  • Prepare executive-level updates communicating project progress, financial impact, risks, and realized benefits

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, operations, analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from a recognized program or certifying body
  • 7+ years of experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, business transformation, or quality initiatives — ideally in a consulting or client-facing capacity
  • Strong data analysis skills to support decision-making, including KPI development, baseline analysis, and variance analysis
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex process and data findings into clear recommendations
  • Advanced analytical skills using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Minitab, or similar tools (preferred)
  • Experience in regulated, government services, financial services, healthcare, or other operationally complex environments (preferred)
