Description:

HamHed LLC is seeking an experienced On-Site Operations Manager – Environmental Services to oversee our day-to-day janitorial and environmental services operations at the VA Medical Center in Long Beach, California.

This individual will serve as HamHed's primary on-site leader and will be responsible for ensuring cleaning services are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements and facility standards.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable managing a large workforce, working directly with supervisors and employees, conducting quality inspections, addressing performance issues, and maintaining strong communication with both HamHed leadership and VA representatives.

Requirements:Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all daily janitorial and environmental services operations at the facility.
  • Lead, support, and hold accountable on-site supervisors and cleaning personnel.
  • Ensure proper staffing and coverage for all required shifts and areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleaning and sanitation standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and adherence to company policies.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, corrective actions, and other personnel matters.
  • Maintain professional communication with VA representatives and HamHed leadership.
  • Respond promptly to service concerns and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure employees follow established cleaning procedures, safety requirements, and OSHA standards.
  • Oversee proper use of chemicals, PPE, cleaning equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitor supply and equipment needs and coordinate orders, repairs, and replacements as necessary.
  • Maintain required operational records, inspection documentation, and reports.
  • Help resolve employee concerns and workplace issues while maintaining appropriate chain of command.
  • Ensure the operation remains compliant with HamHed policies and all applicable contract requirements.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support during staffing shortages, emergencies, inspections, or other operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Previous management or supervisory experience in janitorial, environmental services, facilities management, healthcare housekeeping, or a related field.
  • Experience overseeing multiple supervisors and/or a large workforce preferred.
  • Healthcare, hospital, VA, federal facility, or government contracting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with employees, customers, and facility leadership.
  • Comfortable addressing employee performance and disciplinary matters when necessary.
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment, and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond appropriately to changing operational needs.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete reports, emails, timekeeping, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all background screening and facility-access requirements.
