How much do site development jobs pay per year?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the site development position, and why are they important?
To excel in Site Development, you typically need expertise in project management, civil engineering, land use planning, and regulatory compliance, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications such as PMP or PE. Familiarity with CAD software, GIS systems, and project management tools is highly valuable. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate with stakeholders and manage project challenges effectively. These competencies ensure that site development projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within regulatory and budgetary requirements.
What is a site development?
A Site Development job involves planning, preparing, and managing the construction of land for various projects, such as residential, commercial, or industrial developments. Responsibilities typically include site analysis, permitting, grading, drainage, utilities, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. Site developers coordinate with engineers, contractors, and government agencies to ensure the land is ready for construction. This role requires expertise in zoning laws, environmental considerations, and project management to ensure successful site preparation.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities for someone working in site development?
In a Site Development role, your daily tasks may include conducting site assessments, collaborating with engineers and architects, preparing permit applications, and managing construction timelines. You'll frequently coordinate with local authorities, utility companies, and environmental consultants to ensure all regulatory requirements are met. Site visits to monitor progress or troubleshoot issues are common, as is updating project documentation and reports. This role often requires balancing fieldwork with office-based planning to keep projects on track and address any emerging challenges.

- Coordination/tracking of foundation surveys, storm and utility as-built surveys, and as-built ALTA surveys throughout the construction phase of all projectsÂ
- Attend pre-construction meetings as needed, provide initial BMP inspections as required, and coordinate initial setup of NPDES/SWPPP monitoringÂ
- Assist the site development contractor to resolve any construction related problems that arise on projectsÂ
- Perform other duties as directed by Director of Development Services.Â
- Participate in the continuous improvement of Development Services Teams and Company practices which align with our mission statementÂ
Key Attributes:Â
