Job Description: The candidate for this position will provide district-wide support for PowerSchool, the student information system for BCPS, along with support for student registration. The candidate will be responsible for data extracts for the division and Virginia Department of Education. The candidate will provide technical support for other systems, offering training for the use of those programs when needed. The candidate will serve as a member of the Technology Department's technical support team and complete other duties as assigned.
Direct Accountability and Report: Works under the supervision of the Director of Technology while assisting other division level administrators with various local, State, and Federal reporting. An annual classified evaluation will be based upon the job description, district and personal goals and objectives specific to the position, and the performance of the SIS Data Specialist/Testing Administrative Assistant.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
General duties of the SIS Data Specialist/Testing include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Administers PowerSchool database including: setting up security access, systems settings, parent access; handling yearly processes, i.e. set up new school calendar and administer the roll-over of student records.
  • Provides student information system training for staff members.
  • Facilitates connection between the student information system and other district data systems.
  • Assists with technology support as needed.
  • Maintains data for various local, State, and Federal reports.
  • Coordinates enrollment information with the Administrative Team.
  • Assists with SOL Testing under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports the Brunswick County Public Schools Mission and Vision Statements
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Works to promote the well-being and success of Central Office co-workers, administration, division staff, students, and parents.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, school and division policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Sets goals for improvement of knowledge and skills.
