Job Description
Job Title: On-Call Singer/Musician Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Department/Location: Pastoral Services Department/St. Augustine Cathedral, Tucson, AZ
Primary Function: Under the direction of the Diocesan and Cathedral Director of Liturgical Music is responsible for singing in the Schola for some Sunday services and diocesan liturgical celebrations. A schola member shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in personal life. "...Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." (Eph. 4:1)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform as a lay minister in support of the parish's spiritual and pastoral mission.
  • Shall abide by Catholic principles in the singer's professional and private life, and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures;
  • Perform as a singer for the assigned musical events.
  • Maintain Church protocol including maintaining an environment of respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations
  • Maintain open communications with volunteer musicians
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal musical environment.
Required Activities: Walking; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling, hearing; carrying; and keyboarding.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners and the general public
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times.
  • Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance
  • Ability to successfully pass a background and criminal history check.

Education and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in vocal music.

Other/Preferred Skills:
  • Degree in Music
