Job description
The Simulation Operations Specialist supports the operation, coordination, and delivery of simulation-based education across healthcare programs and CVTC campuses. Individual positions may be assigned to support the Emergency Services Education Center or the Clinical Simulation Center in the Health Education Center depending on operational needs. Responsibilities include supporting high-fidelity simulation, virtual reality (VR), audiovisual and recording technologies, skills training, and interprofessional learning experiences that promote clinical readiness and patient safety. This position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to prepare, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain simulation environments and technologies. The Simulation Operations Specialist assists in creating realistic, immersive, and standardized learning experiences aligned with the best practices in healthcare simulation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide operational and technical support for simulation-based education activities across healthcare programs.
- Prepare, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain simulation equipment, task trainers, audiovisual systems, virtual reality (VR) technologies, and related educational technologies.
- Prepare simulation scenarios (setup, moulage, staging, documentation) and assist faculty in operating high-fidelity sessions.
- Support simulation recording, playback, and debriefing technologies.
- Assist in delivering training and serve as a technical resource for faculty, staff, and students using simulation technologies, VR systems, and simulation environments.
- Assist with the development and implementation of simulation scenarios, related documentation, and electronic health records to provide realistic clinical experiences.
- Assist faculty in maintaining simulation consistency and standardization aligned with the best practices in healthcare simulation.
- Collaborate with faculty and simulation staff to support the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of simulation activities.
- Assist the Simulation Manager with inventory management, supply organization, equipment maintenance, and operational readiness of simulation and skills lab environments.
- Support outreach activities including simulation demonstrations, community engagement events and healthcare career exploration activities.
- Track simulation utilization data, equipment maintenance activities, learner participation, and operational documentation.
- Demonstrate adaptability and problem-solving skills in fast-paced educational and simulation environments.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to healthcare simulation, educational technology, and simulation operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use analytical problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to simulation and clinical objectives.
- Ability to apply effective leadership principles while working collaboratively with faculty and external partners.
- Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
- Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.

- Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Office 365 Suite.
- Ability to work flexible hours varying between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
- Technical diploma in a health-related field is required, associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a health-related field required, experience in emergency medicine, critical care, or emergency transport preferred.
- Prior experience working with healthcare simulation equipment strongly preferred.
