Job Profile
Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist provides highly technical skills in administering high-dose ionizing radiation to cancer patients for localization and treatment of tumor volumes as prescribed by the physician. The Radiation Therapist evaluates equipment and machine operation for quality assurance and is responsible for providing total patient care by preparing patients for radiotherapy, observing clinical progress, and consulting with the physician concerning treatment. The Radiation Therapist maintains daily records and monitors treatment charts for adherence to regular port films within Mosaiq. The Radiation Therapist adheres to all internal controls established for the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED and graduate of a JRCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy
Degrees: Bachelors degree preferred
Licenses & Certifications:
Cert Medical Radiologic Tech with Texas Medical Board (TMB)
Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program
Cert Radiation Therapist with ARRT
Work Experience: Two (2) years in radiation therapy preferred
Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking)
Writing/ Correspondence
Writing/ Reports
Proficiencies: MS Word, Personal Computer
