Job description

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BS degree in Biological, Medical Sciences or any directly related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience operating fluorescence-based microscopes.


Job Summary: 
A microscope technologist position is available in the newly founded UTMB-NIPOKA Center at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston to develop and test microscopic imaging based renal disease diagnostic platform. 
The ideal candidate is expected to join a dynamic team including physicians and scientists that are enthusiastic about establishing innovative diagnostic tools for patients with kidney disease.


Job Duties:

  • Report directly to the director of the Center, work closely with other team members.
  • Operate and maintain a state-of-the-art super-resolution microscope (N-SIM) daily.
  • Acquire fluorescence-based images from processed tissues through N-SIM.
  • Process the fluorescence images following semi-automated programs.
  • Document, store, backup acquired and processed images.
  • Order essential lab materials/office supply.


Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
