Job description

AMA TechTel (AMA) is seeking a Tower Technician to manage wireless tower sites throughout Texas. The Tower Technician is responsible for the installation of wireless equipment on towers and on the ground, preventative maintenance and optimization of companies fixed wireless network, and emergency and after-hours outage response.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Must have the physical ability and the willingness to climb towers up to 500 feet.
  • Install, commission, and integrate microwave backhaul and broadcast equipment in the field.
  • Implement, conduct and coordinate the smooth operation, repair, maintenance and expansion of all systems in market.
  • Provide field support for new broadcast and backhaul site construction in the following areas: on site supervision, equipment delivery coordination, path alignment coordination, equipment installation, microwave turn up and optimization.
  • Coordinate and perform maintenance of broadcast and backhaul sites which involves the emergency generator, batteries/power equipment, AC units, microwave dishes, antennas, towers, locks and fences, coax cabling, etc.
  • Maintain PSTN backhaul circuits by routine or fault testing and repairing as needed.
  • Maintain multi-sector broadcast radios, repair or replace as necessary, and take radio measurements to ensure appropriate signal strength or quality.
  • Maintain microwave radio equipment by aligning frequencies with test equipment, performing annual FCC checks to ensure radio operations are in accordance with FCC guidelines and test for faulty radios.
  • Determine and order supplies and equipment needed for repairs and replacement of defective system components.
  • Receive, investigate, resolve and track trouble tickets.

Position Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle
  • Must be willing and able to travel weekly
  • Ability to climb towers at heights up to 500 feet
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
