Network Engineer -HAIPE

Overview

The Network Engineer – HAIPE provides installation, operation, and maintenance of secure tactical communications systems in a lab environment. This role supports voice, data, and video networks utilizing Type 1 encryption (HAIPE) to ensure secure, reliable communications in compliance with DoW and mission requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, operate, and maintain secure IP-based communication systems supporting LAN/WAN and tactical networks
  • Support the integration and operation of HAIPE-compliant encryption devices within network architectures
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, encryption, and interoperability issues across voice, data, and video systems
  • Assist with configuration and sustainment of routers, switches, radios, and satellite communication equipment
  • Perform system diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and fault isolation to ensure operational readiness
  • Coordinate with COMSEC custodians to support proper handling, accountability, and operational use of encrypted systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security, information assurance, and operational standards
  • Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities
  • Provide technical support in both garrison and field environments, including deployment operations
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Understanding of HAIPE / Type 1 encryption concepts in IP-based networks
  • Knowledge of basic networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
  • Experience supporting secure communications systems (voice, data, video)
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and encryption-related issues
  • Familiarity with tactical communications equipment and signal architectures
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Signal Support Systems Specialist 25U, (or equivalent military role)
  • Experience working in secure or classified network environments
  • Exposure to COMSEC procedures and controlled cryptographic equipment
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+)


Clearance:

  • Must have a current DoW Security Clearance.


Education & Experience:


  • 2-7 years relevant work experience.


Location:

  • Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. On-site schedule flexing is available with the PM’s approval.
