Role Summary

Our client, an engineering and technology organization, is seeking a Camera Tuning Engineer to support the development and optimization of advanced imaging and vision-based products. This role is responsible for improving image quality through image signal processing (ISP) tuning, testing, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

The Camera Tuning Engineer will work closely with software engineers, product stakeholders, and third-party technology partners to optimize camera performance, resolve image quality issues, and support customer-driven enhancements across multiple product lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop expertise across multiple Image Signal Processing (ISP) pipeline architectures and associated development tools.
  • Tune and optimize ISP pipeline parameters to improve image quality across a variety of camera and vision products.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to define, review, implement, and validate imaging pipeline enhancements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand product-specific image quality requirements and recommend technical solutions.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret image data using both quantitative metrics and visual assessments to drive image quality improvements.
  • Design, develop, and execute automated and manual testing procedures to validate imaging performance.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues impacting camera performance.
  • Support customer-driven image quality improvements by analyzing field feedback and resolving imaging concerns.
  • Collaborate with third-party camera and ISP technology providers to resolve complex imaging issues.
  • Maintain documentation of testing methodologies, tuning results, and technical findings.
  • Participate in continuous product improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in image quality analysis, camera tuning, image processing, or a related field.
  • Experience working with Image Signal Processing (ISP) pipelines.
  • Strong programming or scripting experience using Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Experience working with digital cameras, imaging systems, video technologies, or photography-related applications.
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git or GitHub.
  • Experience debugging both hardware and software issues.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret technical data to improve system performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in embedded hardware and software environments.
  • Experience with Linux development environments.
  • Knowledge of signal processing concepts and time-series data analysis.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Customer-facing experience supporting image quality tuning or product optimization.
  • Experience collaborating with third-party camera, sensor, or ISP technology providers.
  • Industry experience in one or more of the following:
    • Automotive vision systems
    • Camera or imaging technology
    • Consumer electronics
    • Computer vision
    • Aerospace
    • Video processing technologies
    • Embedded systems
    • Fire protection or industrial imaging solutions
Ideal Background

Candidates are most successful in this role if they have hands-on experience developing, testing, and optimizing imaging systems, with a strong foundation in camera technologies, image signal processing, and data-driven image quality analysis. Experience working across software and hardware environments in a collaborative engineering setting is highly preferred.
