Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY Salary: $18.72/hourly minimum - $21.84/hourly mid-point (Depending on qualifications) To maintain, repair and construct traffic signals; to maintain accurate records on material and equipment used; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Maintain, repair and construct traffic signals; complete work order forms including work completed and material and equipment used. Install temporary traffic signals and school flashers; hang signals on the cable; build signal heads.

Replace signal lights, LED lens and relamp signals as necessary. Remain on call 24 hours per day, seven days a week on a rotating basis. Assist in coordinating the work of traffic signal contractors; read blueprints; ensure that proper permits are acquired.

Install traffic signal detectors including sawing loops in the street, placing wire in the sawcuts, sealing sawcuts, and running lead-in wire to the controller; install video detection cameras and routinely check vehicle detection to ensure proper operation. Operate equipment and use hand tools needed to maintain, repair and construct traffic signals including concrete saws, backhoes, ditch witch, drills, handsaws and grinders. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Routinely patrol streets; identify traffic signals that need repair; review repair needs with supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. Ensure that assigned signal maintenance shop vehicle is serviced regularly; perform minor repairs and maintenance as necessary.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE One year of responsible experience in the maintenance, repair and construction of traffic signals prefer experience in electronics repair. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid driver's license.

WORK SCHEDULE 9/80 Schedule Monday thru Thursday 7:00 am - 4:30 pm Friday 7:30 - 4:00 pm, Alternating Friday off Overtime available. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
