Job description

On-Site Largo, FLPosition Overview

The Signage Programmer plays a critical role in setting signage projects up for success from the very beginning. This position is responsible for translating customer-supplied architectural drawings, regulatory requirements, and brand standards into complete, accurate interior signage scopes and quotations.

This role goes beyond basic takeoffs. The Signage Programmer must understand how signage functions within a built environment, circulation, wayfinding, code compliance, and brand expression, and accurately reflect those requirements in both plan layouts and cost estimates. The work performed in this role directly impacts compliance, cost accuracy, production efficiency, and overall client satisfaction.

This position is ideal for a highly capable professional who values precision, accountability, and technical excellence, and who is comfortable being trusted with complex, high-visibility work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer-supplied architectural and construction drawings (floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations) to identify all required interior signage.

  • Place and annotate signage directly onto floor plans using Adobe Illustrator, ensuring accurate location, quantity, and sign type representation.

  • Develop comprehensive signage schedules that account for circulation paths, wayfinding logic, room identification, regulatory signage, and brand requirements.

  • Apply ADA standards along with relevant state and local codes to ensure all interior signage meets compliance requirements.

  • Interpret and apply client brand standards consistently across full signage programs.

  • Utilize a signage quotation or estimating system to build accurate, property-wide signage packages and cost estimates.

  • Identify scope gaps, conflicts, or compliance risks and proactively communicate findings and recommended solutions.

  • Support revisions, alternates, and value-engineering efforts as project requirements evolve.

  • Collaborate closely with Business Development, Design, Account Project Management, and Production teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and feasibility from quotation through execution.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience reading and interpreting architectural and construction drawings.

  • Strong working knowledge of ADA signage requirements and applicable state and local regulations for interior signage.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for placing and documenting signage on floor plans.

  • Experience applying brand standards within signage, wayfinding, or architectural environments.

  • Comfort working with quotation, estimating, or cost-building systems.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Experience
  • Background in signage, wayfinding, architectural graphics, or environmental branding.

  • Experience creating signage schedules and full property-wide signage scopes.

  • Understanding of signage materials, fabrication methods, and installation considerations.

  • Experience supporting commercial, hospitality, healthcare, or multifamily projects.

Why Join

This role is ideal for someone who understands that signage is not just aesthetic, it is functional, regulated, and critical to the built environment. If you enjoy precision, thrive on technical problem-solving, and want to play a key role in delivering compliant, well-executed signage programs, this position offers meaningful responsibility, challenge, and long-term growth.

You should be proficient in:

  • CAD Software
  • Measuring and Quoting
  • Blueprint Reading
