Job description

Sr Project Manager
Location: Greater Boston - 3 days per week on site
6 months contract
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 p/hr

Our client is undergoing a major platform migration and is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead delivery of a business online banking platform following its technical build-out. This is a functional, coordination-driven role rather than a technical one, sitting at the tail end of the build and focused on bringing a finished product to market. You'll partner closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and the platform vendor to drive the plan forward and get the organization ready for go-live. Key Responsibilities
  • Expand and maintain a detailed project plan with full visibility into dependencies, tasks, deliverables, at-risk items, and timelines
  • Partner across the bank with product owners and business stakeholders to build a collaborative execution team for the migration
  • Take a hands-on role coordinating vendor conversations and restructuring the current project meeting cadence
  • Coordinate external vendor relationships outside the core platform vendor
  • Support rollout of a clear governance and delivery framework
  • Drive business readiness, including documentation, communications, and stakeholder sign-off ahead of go-live milestones
  • Own execution of the migration for the Small Business customer wave first, then Commercial customers
  • Support migration wave planning and internal business readiness through the full migration window
  • Represent the project at the VP level and participate in a steering committee that reports up to executive leadership
Requirements
  • 8-10+ years of experience as a Project Manager in a regulated banking environment, with a focus on digital transformation
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-vendor projects involving technology integrations
  • Strong hands-on plan-building skills, with a track record of managing execution against a detailed plan
  • Comfort building out and expanding process and structure in a Project Management Office that is still maturing
  • Core banking platform experience valued (Q2, Client, Jack Henry, FIS, or Bottomline), though none are required
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable holding vendors and internal partners accountable to a plan
  • Able to operate independently while staying closely aligned with the broader delivery team
What Success Looks Like

Within the first 4-6 weeks, you've expanded the existing project plan into a document the whole team can rely on for visibility into dependencies, tasks, and risk. You've built a working, collaborative team across the bank for the migration, brought a hands-on presence to vendor conversations, and helped stand up a clearer governance and meeting cadence. From there, stakeholders trust you to run execution and delivery independently, first for the Small Business wave and then Commercial, with migration waves and business readiness activities running smoothly under your ownership.
