Job Overview
The Facility Project Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day facility projects, minor facility repairs, and operational support across HTI locations. This role ensures warehouse and facility operations are safe, efficient, and well-organized. Responsibilities include racking repair and replacement, warehouse moves, new location setups, inventory coordination, and hands-on facility maintenance. They work closely with Inventory Management, Operations, and branch leadership to support operational continuity, safety and efficiency across all assigned locations.
Core Functions
  • Facility and Project Management
    • Support facility projects across HTI locations, including racking repair and replacement, warehouse moves, and hands-on facility maintenance.
    • Manage and participate in new location setups.
    • Perform and oversee minor facility repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Ensure facility projects and repairs are completed safely, on schedule, and in alignment with company standards.
    • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for larger facility work or specialized repairs.
    • Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify maintenance, safety, and improvement needs.
    • Ensure compliance and maintenance of leased facilities.
    • Direct and delegate tasks to the project team to support execution of facility projects.
    • Manage external facility elements such as fences, entry gate, roofs, dock doors, flag poles, etc.
    • Manage internal facility elements such as generator, HVAC, plumbing, document shredding, fire extinguishers/alarms, lighting efficiency, cameras, signage, floor maintenance, etc.
    • Manage facility grounds including driveway upkeep, trash service, etc.
  • Inventory and Warehouse Support
    • Manage daily transfer of product between Grand Rapids locations, ensuring assigned rack areas are fully stocked, organized, clearly labeled, and ready for shipping.
    • Coordinate with the inventory team on part movements, replenishment, and re-slotting activities.
    • Support and participate in cycle counting activities to ensure inventory accuracy.
    • Assist with inventory adjustments related to facility changes, moves, or re-slotting activities.
  • Process Improvement and Continuous Improvement
    • Promote organization, cleanliness, safety, and standardization at HTI locations.
    • Conduct regular audits within facility areas, following up on corrective action.
    • Identify and implement facility, inventory, and process improvements to hance workflow, safety, and efficiency.
  • Season and Site-Specific Operations
    • Support Grand Rapids warehouse operations teams as needed by coordinating team coverage to fill temporary staffing shortages.
    • Coordinate with leadership on support for the Home Office facility in Byron Center.
    • Manage snow removal operations for Grand Rapids locations.
    • Coordinate internal staff and external vendors to ensure timely and safe snow and ice removal.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards during adverse weather conditions.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Documentation
    • Ensure all facility activities, repairs, and inventory support functions comply with OHSA regulations, company safety policies, and operational standards.
    • Promote a strong safety culture through training, inspections, and corrective action follow-up.
    • Maintain documentation related to facility repairs, projects, inspections, maintenance, and inventory support activities.
    • Participate in audits and support compliance initiatives as required.
  • Management and Team Development
    • Supports the team by solving complex problems and making substantial decisions that impact them.
    • Models all safety and compliance procedures and hold others accountable to them.
    • Responsible for managing and approving employee leave and timecards, as well as reinforcing timekeeping and attendance requirements with employees.
    • Guide teams to develop reliable processes and procedures that produce results and ensure execution from the team.
    • Act as a company representative by managing change, communicating proactively and regularly setting goals and clarifying expectations.
    • Critically think through decisions to maximize impact.
    • Run operations effectively through delegation, resource utilization, and budget management.

Competencies and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience in facility management, construction management or maintenance preferred.
  • Experience working in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is a plus.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment such as a forklift and electric pallet jack required.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse layouts, racking systems, and material handling operations.
  • Experience supporting inventory movements, replenishment, and cycle counts.
  • Hands-on experience performing minor facility repairs and general maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural).
  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Knowledge of safety standards in a warehouse environment.
  • Working knowledge of 5S Methodology and continuous improvement principles.
  • Computer skills such as file storage, control panel navigation, internet and email utilization.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to work independently and meet self-driven goals.
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to organize a large workspace.
  • Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Full-time in office position.
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs. individually and up to 100 lbs. as a team lift.
  • Prolonged periods of being on their feet within the warehouse.
  • 25-50% travel required.
