As a Yard Dog Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trailers, tankers, and shipping containers within the St. Gabriel plant yard. You will work closely with the site units, shipping, receiving, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless logistics operations while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards. Essential Qualifications:High school or equivalentMinimum of 1–2 years of experience operating a yard tractor (yard dog/hostler) or driving a Class A CDL vehicle in an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution center environmentValid TWIC card requiredValid Driver's License requiredActive Class A CDL is highly preferredClean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screenAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold)Ability to frequently climb in and out of the yard truck cab, hook/unhook air lines, and crank trailer landing gearStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced teamAbility to work flexible shifts, including overtime, weekends, or night shifts as operational needs requirePost offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband PolicyComply with company and client job site safety requirementsMust not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace Functional Requirements:Safely operate a yard tractor (yard dog/spotter) to move, spot, and dock loaded and empty trailers/tankers to and from loading docks, staging areas, and trailer yards; Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard tractor and report anymaintenance issues immediately. Inspect trailers for damage or safety hazards before moving; Utilize yard management systems or paper logs to accurately track trailer locations and statuses; Coordinate closely with warehouse supervisors, shipping/receiving clerks, and gate security to prioritize moves and keep operations running smoothly; Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols, including speed limits, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling guidelines.
