The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia, has an opening for a CNC Lathe Operator (Roll Turner). We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and motivated person to join our team.
Pay after a brief probationary period for a Roll Turner is $28.59 per hour for the first 40 hours; $42.89 for hours over 40; and $57.18 for work on the seventh consecutive day. We also offer PRODUCTION INCENTIVE BONUS (paid weekly), Profit Sharing Bonus (twice a year - cash payment) and EXCELLENT HEALTH/DENTAL/VISION and 401(k)!!!
Responsibilities
Roll Turners are responsible for setting up, programming, and monitoring large industrial lathes, to form metal blanks into the specific shapes required to roll steel products in SWVA, Inc.'s two rolling mills. A Roll Turner at Steel of West Virginia will be responsible for:
  • Setting up lathes through installation process, verifies settings by accurately measuring positions, monitoring progress, and conducting quality control checks with guidance.
  • Taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, and maintaining quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Planning machining by studying work orders, blueprints and specifications and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Programing lathes to create new rolls from metal blanks or to dress rolls to return them to within required specifications by entering instructions, setting tool registries, and calculating requirements.
  • Making accurate calculations using basic math, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications
We are seeking applicants who have meaningful experience on CNC lathes (including proficiency in the use of micrometers and calipers) along with mechanical ability, blueprint reading ability, programming experience on CNC's and computer skills.
