Show Motion jobs refer to roles involved in designing, creating, and operating moving scenic elements, props, or stage equipment for live productions, such as theater, concerts, or theme park shows. These professionals use mechanical systems, automation, and technical expertise to ensure smooth and safe movement of stages or set pieces during performances. Show Motion technicians collaborate closely with production teams to bring dynamic visual effects to life, enhancing the overall audience experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a show motion operator?

To thrive as a Show Motion Operator, you generally need technical knowledge of stage automation, mechanical systems, and a background in theater or live event production. Familiarity with automation control systems like TAIT Navigator or Stage Technologies, as well as relevant safety certifications, is typically required. As a Show Motion Technician, one of the main challenges is ensuring that all automated stage elements operate smoothly and safely during live performances. This involves troubleshooting technical issues under tight time constraints, coordinating closely with stage managers, performers, and other technical departments, and adapting quickly to last-minute changes in cues or show sequences. Job description

We are an integrated strategy and marketing agency. Powered by data, we bring world-class experts in each of our service areas to conceive, develop, and run campaigns that help our clients seize opportunities and solve their biggest challenges. Whether it is elevating a brand, shaping a narrative, defining a reputation, navigating a crisis, or persuading and mobilizing an audience, we don't just break through. We break new ground.
We're hiring a designer who leans motion-forward but is equally comfortable with static design. This person should be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite and able to work across social, decks, reports, brand systems, and campaign assets. Illustration skills are a plus but not required. What is required is experience creating campaigns - spec or produced - that show an ability to think in systems and build cohesive visual work across touchpoints.
This hire reflects continued investment in a design team that's seeing tremendous demand. Client-side design requests consistently outpace bandwidth, marketing projects are on hold because we lack capacity, and we want to bring design thinking deeper into our data and research practice. This person will help make all of that possible.
What You Will Be Doing:
Creative
  • Craft & Technical: Create motion graphics and animated content for digital and social platforms. Work within established brand guidelines while bringing fresh visual perspective
  • Creativity & Innovation: Design across formats including social graphics, reports, presentation decks, data visualizations, brand systems, and campaign assets
  • Communication & Influence: Collaborate with copywriters, account leads, and strategists to deliver cohesive creative. Support the team's growing involvement in marketing and data visualization work

Client Management
  • Assist with administrative components of account work (e.g. creative requests, project tracking, notes and feedback).
  • Able to independently manage small projects and work streams.

Collaboration
  • Engages across teams and works respectfully and effectively with others.
  • Well-prepared for meetings (has reviewed materials beforehand and pays attention during calls).
  • Help guide and share knowledge with junior and/or new team members. Oversees and guides interns.

Project & Time Management
  • Owns assigned tasks (e.g. understanding how work ladders up to the larger goal, meets deadlines without reminders, organizes documents for team sharing, comfortable with a variety of tools and hard skills, can manage multiple projects at once, manages up, if necessary).
  • Meets deadlines set by client lead.

Strategy
  • Drafts error-free content (e.g. video edits, proposals, scripts, and/or presentations) with demonstrated subject matter expertise.
  • Adapts quickly to new ideas and client needs, connects daily work to strategic goals.
  • Reviews, research, distills insights about online video into actionable recommendations, and escalates issues when needed.

What We Are Looking For:
  • 2+ years of experience in an agency, studio, or similar creative environment
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Strong fundamentals in layout, typography, color, and brand systems
  • Motion design skills with a solid reel of work
  • Illustration skills are a plus but not required
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and adapt to different brand identities

Portfolio Requirements:
Candidates will be evaluated on the merit of their portfolio. We want to see:
  • A clean, well-organized book
  • A strong motion reel
  • Branding case studies
  • Campaigns (produced or spec)

What We Will Give You:
  • Competitive salaries
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • Flexible hybrid remote/in office plan
  • Retirement plan with automatic 3% safe-harbor contribution from Precision
  • Healthcare coverage - medical, dental and vision with 90% of costs covered by Precision
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Paid parental leave
  • Professional development stipend

The salary range for this role is $62,000-85,000.
We are currently working in a hybrid model and require staff to work in the office 50% of working days per month.
Precision is committed to building a diverse team that will positively and authentically impact the communities we serve. Centering our strategies around the authentic voices and cultures of the communities we are engaging with is paramount to our work - and our work can only be as inclusive as our team is representative. We strongly encourage women, Black, Latino, Hispanic, AAPI, and Indigenous people, LGBTQ+, gender expansive or GNC folks, people of all ages, disabled people, and veterans to apply.
