Overview

Studio McGee is seeking a Senior Manager, Web Operations to lead operational execution, marketing technology oversight, and cross functional coordination for our Shopify Plus ecommerce platform.

This role ensures the stability,scalability, and structured execution of all web initiatives. You will serve as the connective layer between marketing, design, technology, analytics, and operations. The ideal candidate brings strong collaboration, operational rigor, technical fluency, and strong documentation discipline to support a high growth ecommerce environment.

This is a highly cross functional role that requires clear communication, strong prioritization skills, and a deep understanding of ecommerce systems.

Responsibilities Web Development Workflow Leadership
  • Own the intake, scoping, and prioritization process for all web initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into structured project requirements and detailed development tickets
  • Write clear acceptance criteria, edge cases, dependencies, and QA requirements
  • Maintain a healthy, prioritized backlog aligned to business impact
  • Lead sprint planning, grooming, and retrospective sessions
  • Remove blockers and manage cross functional dependencies
  • Ensure consistent, on time delivery across theme and application development
Cross Functional Requirements Management
  • Partner with marketing, merchandising, lifecycle, CX, and operations teams to gather and clarify business requirements
  • Convert ambiguous requests into actionable technical documentation
  • Align feasibility and scope with development prior to commitment
  • Communicate tradeoffs and timelines clearly to stakeholders
  • Ensure all work is documented before development begins
Marketing Technology and eCommerce Operations
  • Oversee the ecommerce marketing technology ecosystem including personalization, search and merchandising, analytics tracking, lifecycle integrations, AI driven tools, and Shopify applications
  • Troubleshoot tracking discrepancies, data flow interruptions, and integration conflicts
  • Evaluate new tools for scalability, performance, and operational impact
  • Document architecture and data flow across systems
Site Issue Triage and Operational Stability
  • Serve as first point of contact for site issues and production concerns
  • Diagnose root cause across theme configurations, applications, integrations, and platform settings
  • Resolve non developer issues including CMS errors, content publishing conflicts, application configuration issues, tracking misfires, and feed discrepancies
  • Coordinate escalation to when cross functional intervention is required
  • Document incidents and implement process improvements to reduce recurrence
Design Coordination and Component Governance
  • Partner closely with graphic design and UX teams to scope and launch new site experiences including landing pages, seasonal campaigns, and feature enhancements
  • Translate visual concepts into development ready requirements aligned with Shopify theme architecture
  • Ensure new experiences leverage existing components where appropriate
  • Own and maintain the site component catalog including documentation of reusable modules
  • Standardize components to improve velocity, scalability, and brand consistency
  • Conduct feasibility reviews to ensure performance and scalability are considered prior to build
Strategic Agility and Innovation
  • Embrace change within a fast-evolving ecommerce landscape and proactively adapt processes, tools, and priorities as business needs shift
  • Anticipate future platform capabilities, customer expectations, and technology advancements to inform roadmap planning
  • Pilot new tools, frameworks, and approaches that improve efficiency, scalability, and performance
  • Foster a culture of thoughtful experimentation while maintaining operational stability
  • Establish responsible standards for AI usage that protect brand integrity, data accuracy, and system performance
  • Continuously assess emerging technologies to ensure the ecommerce ecosystem remains competitive and future ready
Documentation and Process Development
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for releases, QA processes, deployments, integrations, and incident response
  • Create templates for requirement documents, technical specifications, and post launch reviews
  • Maintain a centralized documentation library to reduce institutional knowledge risk
  • Continuously refine operational workflows to increase clarity and efficiency
Professional Presence and Leadership
  • Demonstrate maturity, professionalism, and sound judgment in cross functional environments
  • Navigate conflict constructively and address challenges directly and respectfully
  • Advocate for clear priorities, appropriate resourcing, and realistic timelines
  • Communicate boundaries and tradeoffs with confidence and composure
  • Foster accountability while maintaining strong working relationships across teams
Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in ecommerce product management or web operations, with a focus on customer facing DTC digital products
  • Hands on experience within the Shopify ecosystem, including Shopify Plus, with a strong understanding of platform capabilities, limitations, and integrations
  • Proven ability to own the full product lifecycle from discovery through launch and ongoing iteration
  • Experience leading Agile workflows, including sprint planning, execution, backlog management, and retrospectives
  • Demonstrated experience managing development workflows, structured ticketing systems, and cross functional delivery
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce marketing technology stacks and experience troubleshooting integrations and tracking implementations
  • Exceptional communication, relationship building, and documentation skills
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • Creative and customer centric mindset with a passion for building elevated, intuitive digital experiences
