Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Food Quality & Packaging Specialist to join our team across both Epting Events and A Good Story Foods. This role is critical as we scale our operations—moving from local event catering to expanding our footprint on platforms like Shopify and GrubHub. You will be the primary lead on ensuring our food safety standards meet all HACCP requirements while managing the technical side of our retail packaging and vacuum-sealing operations.


Key Responsibilities
  • HACCP Management: Develop, implement, and maintain Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans for all food production lines. Ensure we stay compliant with local and federal food safety regulations.

  • Packaging Operations: Oversee the packaging process for retail and delivery, specifically focusing on vacuum sealing (sous-vide prep and shelf-life extension) and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging).

  • Quality Control: Conduct regular audits of food storage, handling, and temperatures to ensure every product leaving our kitchen meets the highest safety and quality standards.

  • Process Optimization: Work closely with the Digital Commerce Manager to streamline packaging workflows for Shopify orders and GrubHub delivery to ensure products arrive fresh and intact.

  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records for food safety logs, certification renewals, and ingredient traceability.

  • Safety Training: Educate the kitchen and catering staff on food safety protocols and the proper use of vacuum-sealing equipment.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years in food production, quality assurance, or a specialized packaging role.

  • Certifications: Active HACCP certification is required. ServSafe Manager certification is a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of vacuum-sealing machinery (chamber vacuum sealers) and the science of food preservation/packaging materials.

  • Adaptability: Ability to pivot between the high-volume, fast-paced environment of Epting Events catering and the precision-based retail packaging for A Good Story Foods.

  • Detail-Oriented: A "zero-mistake" mindset when it comes to food safety and labeling requirements.
