Shop Helper (Diesel Technician)
Department: Lease & Rental - Badgerland Idealease
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Madison
Compensation: $20.00 / hour
Description
Join the lease and rental fleet service department at the ground level, with exceptional training resources, support, and growth opportunities. The Shop Helper will provide support and assistance to Fleet Technicians, Service Supervisors, and Service Manager in an effort to improve the efficiency of the Service Department. This is an entry-level position with full benefits, year-round work, in a very tight-knit and cohesive service team. This position is designed to transition into potential future opportunities as a Fleet Technician, a stable and rewarding career path.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with shop upkeep activities including yard checks, removing trash, stocking supplies, general shop cleanup, retrieving parts or shop supplies, maintaining parts inventory, snow/ice removal, etc.
  • Perform truck check-in or check-out procedures such as light cleanup, washing, refueling, removing decals or license plates, basic inspections of components under supervision of technicians.
  • Run general errands (i.e. parts pickup, hardware store runs) or run chase car with another employee to pickup/deliver trucks for service using company vehicle.
  • Desire to learn to drive commercial trucks in yard and on road with training and experience.
  • Assist Technicians with performing preventative maintenance or other services under supervision.
  • Complete all safety and technical training for Idealease Fleet Technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Must be personable as this position will require occasional interaction with customers.
  • Ability to change tasks from one minute to the next and prioritize as needed.
  • Must have at least minimum computer skills to navigate our business system.
  • Desire to learn an advance through training internally and hands-on training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally.
