Openwork is hiring a dependable Machine Shop Helper to support a busy manufacturing operation in Houston. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, supporting production teams, operating equipment, and helping ensure products are packaged and prepared for shipment accurately.
Working in a climate-controlled facility, you'll play an important role in both shop operations and product packaging while gaining valuable manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Build wooden pallets for finished products and outgoing shipments.
  • Assist machinists with daily production activities.
  • Package finished products according to customer specifications.
  • Prepare, label, and stage products for shipment.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials and finished goods.
  • Maintain inventory organization and material flow.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow ISO standards, quality procedures, and safety requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1+ year of manufacturing, warehouse, shop helper, or packaging experience required.
  • Previous packaging experience required.
  • Forklift experience preferred (certification provided on-site).
  • Carpentry or pallet-building experience is a plus.
  • Basic inventory and material handling knowledge.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain active throughout the shift.
