Job Title: Machine Shop Helper

Employee Type: Full Time, Hourly

Reports to: Machining Manager

Shifts Available:

  • 1st Shift: Monday - Thursday; 5:00am - 5:30pm
  • 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday; 5:00pm - 5:30am**
  • Weekend Day Shift: Friday - Sunday; 5:00am - 5:30pm**

**Shift Differential in addition to hourly rate on 2nd & Weekend Days

Rate: $16.00 - $18.00/hr DOE

Job Location: Wichita, KS, USA

Job Duties

  • Assist Lead Machinist and other machinists on shift
  • Clean the shop equipment and work area as instructed
  • Participate in organization of shop tools and parts
  • Remove and maintain chips from machining operations until recycled
  • Ensure solids scrap bins are properly identified and monitored
  • Move and stage materials & supplies
  • Clean up shavings from machine areas
  • Move raw and scrap materials, finished products and equipment throughout the facility, as needed
  • Perform necessary housekeeping activities, this includes, but is not limited to, the picking up of all debris that results from production activities, this includes proper storage of all materials and equipment when they are not in use as well as all other materials which may be offensive or hazardous
  • Work with Machine operators loading parts into machinery
  • Deliver parts and or materials to work areas as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Previous manufacturing or machining environment required
  • Experience in Machine Shop preferred
  • Current enrollment in CNC Machining program is preferred
  • Strong attention to safety and able to adhere to OSHA and company safety regulations
  • Able to read and interpret job orders and other documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manual
  • Must have good attendance and be dependable
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum 50 lbs
  • Must be a US citizen; position not eligible for sponsorship.

Physical Requirements

  • The essential duties job may require the ability to stoop; to reach; to stand, and to walk for extended periods of time; to push and/or pull objects weighing up to 30 pounds; to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to use finger dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment and hand strength to grasp files and other objects; to perceive the attributes of objects by touch; to hear and verbally exchange ideas and information with the public, staff and others in the office. Frequently being on foot, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climb stairs and kneeling and/or crouch to retrieve items. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small power tools and other equipment. Writing to complete reports and service requests. Occasionally Lifting and carrying (with assistance) items weighing 75-150 lbs. Must be able to wear safety PPE equipment, as required. Noise levels may require hearing protection.
