Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Kahului's location is a 254-bed nursing facility.


The Position:

At Hale Makua Health Services, we know that a healthcare career is a big decision - and not everyone is ready to commit to certification before they've even set foot on a nursing unit. The Unit Helper role is your chance to step into skilled nursing care, work alongside our nursing team, and get a real feel for the work. There's no obligation to enter a certification program - this role is designed for people who want to try healthcare on for size.
If you decide it's the right path for you, we'll be there to help you take the next step. Hale Makua offers a clear, supported career pathway - from Unit Helper, to Certified Nurse Aide, and for those who want to go further, toward becoming a Registered Nurse.
No pressure and no clock is running. You can stay a Unit Helper as long as you'd like, or use it as the first step of a long-term nursing career.
Making and tidying beds. Light housekeeping and organizing of resident common areas

Answering call lights and relaying resident requests to nursing staff

Refilling water pitchers and beverage containers. Assisting with meal set-up and delivery

Transporting residents within the facility

Providing friendly, attentive companionship to residents throughout your shift


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. / Minimum age of 18.
  • Current and valid 2 Step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
  • No prior healthcare experience or certification required
