Job description

CET - Engineering Shop Technician (FWS/NFWS)This is for Summer work, April 28th - September 8th

No, students do not need to be enrolled in Summer classes to be eligible to work over Summer but you must live within 30 mile of campus, you also must be enrolled in Fall 2026 classes as a full time student.

Summer hours are for up to 40 hours a week.

Job description:

Purpose within the Organization: The purpose of this position is to assist the College of Engineering, and Technology with administrative duties related to maintenance of the labs

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

  • Assisting Shop Manger in the Engineering shops.
  • Assisting with up-keep and supply monitoring.
  • Responsible following all safety guidelines and instructions.
  • Monitor the Engineering Shops and Capstone area assuring that students follow all safety guidelines and instructions.
  • Learn and teach how to use equipment in the shops.
  • Maintain an inventory of Shop equipment.
  • Completing tasks as assigned by the lab coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to set and follow a schedule.
  • Must be able to Nights and Saturdays when needed.
  • Must be able to comply with safety protocols (training will be provided).
  • Knowledge of Solidworks preferred

Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student

Retain a 2.0 GPA

Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
