Job description

The Manufacturing Shop Floor Engineer will act as a bridge between engineering, machining, fabrication, quality, and production teams to ensure tooling and assemblies are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with customer requirements.

This role is highly hands-on and ideal for someone with strong manufacturing process knowledge and a passion for aerospace production environments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily shop floor operations involving:
    • CNC machining
    • Welding & fabrication
    • Mechanical assembly
    • Aerospace tooling manufacturing
  • Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and customer specifications
  • Develop and improve manufacturing workflows and routing processes
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with machinists, welders, inspectors, and program management
  • Assist with fixture design, tooling concepts, and process optimization
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements
  • Support first article inspections and production readiness reviews
  • Monitor manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and schedule adherence
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Interface with suppliers and outside processing vendors as needed

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Or related field
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or shop floor engineering experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Familiarity with machining, fabrication, and assembly processes
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
  • Experience with:
    • CNC machining
    • Welding processes
    • Aerospace tooling
    • Ground support equipment
  • Knowledge of:
    • AS9100
    • Lean manufacturing
    • Root cause analysis
    • ERP/MRP systems
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
