Position Title: Shop Manager / Production Manager
Reports To: Owner / General Manager
Location: TLC Auto & Truck Repair Center

Position Summary

The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily shop operations to ensure maximum productivity, efficiency, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction. This position serves as the leader of the production team and is responsible for managing workflow, technician performance, vehicle turnaround times, and overall shop performance.

The Shop Manager works closely with owner, Service Advisors, Estimator, Parts manager and Technicians to achieve monthly sales, gross profit, billed hour, and customer service goals while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

  • Manage daily workflow and shop scheduling.
  • Assign repair orders and work evenly among technicians.
  • Monitor repair progress and ensure vehicles are completed on time.
  • Eliminate production bottlenecks and downtime.
  • Ensure proper vehicle dispatching and technician utilization.
  • Maintain efficient shop capacity and workflow management.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop technicians and shop personnel.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and training discussions.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Address performance issues promptly and professionally.
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new technicians.
  • Financial Performance
  • Drive monthly billed hour goals and shop productivity targets.
  • Monitor technician efficiency and productivity metrics.
  • Manage labor gross profit and overall shop profitability.
  • Review shop performance reports and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Support Service Advisors in resolving customer concerns.
  • Ensure repairs are completed accurately and professionally.
