Job description

Museum Guest Experience Specialist II (Full-time)

The Guest Experience Specialist serves as a welcoming and knowledgeable representative of the museum ensuring an engaging and positive visitor experience. This position is responsible for greeting guests, providing exceptional customer service, assisting with daily museum operations, tours, special events, programs, retail activities and administrative and operational tasks that helps to ensure smooth museum operations. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, organized, dependable, adaptable and passionate about engaging diverse audiences in support of the Sixth Street Museum District's mission.

Guest Services Experience

· Greet and welcome visitors, answer questions, and provide information about museum exhibits, programs and services.

· Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide excellent customer service in person, by phone and email in a professional and timely manner.

· Conduct guided tours and assist with educational and interpretive programs for diverse groups.

· Support special events, including planning, setup, execution, staffing, breakdown and guest assistance.

· Assist in the creation of guest experience content for social media and digital platforms.

· Schedule groups and maintain the museum tour and event calendar ensuring accurate scheduling and communication

· Assist with volunteer recruitment and outreach activities.

· Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth event operations and an excellent guest experience.

Operations and Administrative

· Open and close the museum according to established procedures, ensuring security and readiness for visitors.

· Assist with maintaining clean, organized, and welcoming public spaces.

· Maintain daily visitor logs, compiling attendance and visitor engagement reports

· Assist with weekly cash verification processes, monthly deposits, and ensure accuracy in point-of-sale transactions.

· Operate and process sales in the museum gift shop, assist with inventory upkeep, restocking, and merchandising.

· Purchase supplies and other items through the online purchasing system as directed.

· Enter event logistics into the event management system in a timely manner.

· Assists with the training of part-time guest experience specialists.

· Perform general office and administrative duties including data entry, filing, and internal/external document preparation

· Perform other duties as assigned to support museum operations.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework/experience in museum studies, hospitality/tourism, education, communications, or related field preferred.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

· Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.

· Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Ability to learn point-of-sale systems and online purchasing/event management software.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as needed.

· Comfortable engaging with diverse audiences and community groups.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout museum spaces.

· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for event or exhibit setup.
