The Role

The Shop Assistant supports daily shop operations, including equipment assembly, cable installation, fabrication assistance, and general shop housekeeping. This role is ideal for a hands-on individual who is mechanically inclined and thrives in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop areas, workstations, and yard
  • Assist with fabrication and assembly of equipment and modules using hand and power tools
  • Perform routing, bundling, and installation of cables within equipment modules
  • Assist with basic painting, material handling, and inventory stocking
  • Support team members with various shop-related tasks as required
  • Perform pressure washing and cleaning of equipment and modules
  • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 5 Driverโ€™s License
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools effectively
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials and equipment
  • Comfortable working in shop and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions
  • Intermediate computer skills (e.g., data entry, tracking systems, basic software use)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
