Summary

Under the direction of the Shop and Purchasing Manager, the Shop Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Shop Department. This role combines office-based administrative tasks with hands-on warehouse responsibilities and delivery of materials to job sites and vendors.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of office work, driving, and physical activity in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support including typing, scanning, filing, scheduling, and coordinating meetings
  • Deliver materials safely and efficiently using company vehicles
  • Pick up and transport materials from vendors as needed
  • Load and unload materials at job sites and assist field crews as needed
  • Review and manage daily delivery schedules
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and complete weekly inspection reports
  • Follow all DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
  • Assist with warehouse organization, inventory stocking, and maintaining a clean shop environment
  • Support general shop operations and complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured under company policy
  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle for deliveries
  • Basic computer skills (email, scanning, data entry, scheduling)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation)
  • Ability to work in a warehouse/shop environment and outdoors at job sites
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, shop, or construction environment
  • Prior delivery driving experience
