Job description

At our shop, you'll join a close-knit team of automotive enthusiasts who value teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. We take pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional facility, and we're looking for someone who wants to contribute to that environment every day and help improve it.

As a Shop Assistant, you'll play an essential role in keeping our operation running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop, assisting technicians as needed, running errands, stocking supplies, and helping create a safe and efficient work environment. This is a hands-on, physically active position where you'll be on your feet and moving for approximately 95% of your shift.

Cleaning & Facility Maintenance

  • Collect and empty trash throughout the facility (shop, showroom, restrooms, and breakroom), break down cardboard boxes, and dispose of recycling in the designated dumpster.
  • Maintain a clean and safe shop by disposing of automotive fluids properly, wiping down equipment to remove grease, fluids, dirt, and dust, and keeping shop equipment-including the alignment rack and tire machine-clean and presentable.
  • Keep the shop clean by sweeping floors, removing debris, scrubbing and degreasing work areas, stacking and organizing used tires for pickup, and unloading scrap materials into the designated scrap bin.
  • Perform daily cleaning of the showroom, customer areas, and restrooms, including spot cleaning, wiping down the customer restroom sink, and sweeping the restroom floor.
  • Complete weekly deep-cleaning and organization tasks, including sweeping corners, hosing down floors, wiping down work tables, moving floor mats, cleaning overlooked areas, and completing assigned shop or showroom organization projects.
  • Assist technicians and management in keeping work areas clean, organized, and presentable when requested, and complete additional improvement or organization projects as assigned.

Shop Vehicle

  • Help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the company shop truck, inside and out.
  • Report any maintenance warning messages or other concerns (excluding TPMS warnings) to management promptly.
  • Ensure the vehicle remains clean and presentable for customer transportation when needed.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities

  • Run errands and pick up or deliver parts as needed.
  • Occasionally transport customers in the company vehicle when requested.
  • Monitor inventory levels of shop cleaning supplies (gloves, floor cleaner, garbage bags, paper towels, etc.) and notify management before supplies run low.
  • Ask questions and seek guidance whenever clarification or assistance is needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the technicians and overall operation of the shop.
