Youโ€™ll solve problems, coordinate details, and ensure quality every step of the way. Project Engineers support the overall management and direction of one or more projects, working closely with trade partners and keeping an eye on the schedule and costs, making adjustments when needed. Youโ€™ll help drive project performance by contributing to estimating and purchasing. Collaboration is key in this role, as youโ€™ll build strong relationships with clients, teammates, and industry partners, as well as mentor rising team members.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Operational Excellence

  • Lead day-to-day project coordination to keep work moving smoothly.
  • Support site planning.
  • Update schedules and coordinate with trade partners to ensure teams are aligned and on track.
  • Manage document control activities to ensure timely and accurate handling of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and more.
  • Procure materials and coordinate their logistics/management.
  • Perform onsite quality control checks to verify work meets project standards.
  • Implement onsite safety plan in line with Shookโ€™s safety culture.
  • Support project budget development and maintenance, with responsibilities that include managing pay applications and invoice tracking and approval.
  • Oversee startup and commissioning to ensure systems operate as intended.
  • Leads project closeout efforts, ensuring all documentation, turnover items, and final requirements complete.
  • Mentor and be a resource to Co-Ops/Interns

Physical and Work Expectations

  • Driving to job sites, offices, client locations, and other work-related sites.
  • Light or low amount of physical exertion.
  • Overtime work as assigned.
  • Travel overnight as required.
  • Ability to work in environments that may be cold, hot, dusty, or loud.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety.

What Youโ€™ll Bring

  • 1-3 years of construction experience preferred.
  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, construction management, or similar. Or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problemsolving abilities.
  • Clear, concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to represent Shook at career fairs and recruitment events.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and fellow teammates.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook required.
  • Primavera/Oracle scheduling, Sage Timberline, AutoCAD, and Viewpoint are a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record. Motor vehicle report required.
  • LEED, PE, and ICRA/Healthcare Construction Certificates are a plus.
