Ready to Lead and Keep Freight Moving Smoothly? Join Hood Container as our 2nd Shift Shipping Lead!

At Hood Container, we’re committed to delivering excellence—not just in packaging, but in every step of our operations. As our Shipping Lead at the Houston, TX Plant, you’ll be responsible for driving shipping efficiency, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring products get to our customers safely, accurately, and on time.

Location: Houston , TX
Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour + shift differential


How You Will Lead:

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the shipping team in loading finished goods accurately and efficiently to their correct destinations.

  • Assign tasks and routes for local deliveries, pickups, and transfers.

  • Ensure team readiness, equipment availability, and adherence to shipping schedules.

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor team attendance, safety readiness, and compliance with all shipping procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Coach and support the team to meet and exceed expectations.

Inventory & Documentation

  • Complete all shipping paperwork with accuracy—bills of lading, freight billing, and shipment tracking.

  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits, confirming results with the Shipping Manager.

  • Ensure outbound freight is billed nightly and documented properly in the Amtech system.

Communication & Problem Solving

  • Notify Customer Service and Management of any delays, damages, or shortages.

  • Coordinate with other departments to meet shipping and delivery goals.

  • Support special projects and additional duties as assigned.


What It Takes:
  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Experience leading teams in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing settings

  • Strong working knowledge of the Amtech system

  • Ability to bill outbound freight and manage documentation

  • Proficient in basic PC use and shipping equipment operation

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. and work in varied temperature conditions (40°F to 120°F)
