We are looking for a Shipping Supervisor to support our team at our location in Alpharetta, GA.

Position Overview:

The Shipping Supervisor leads the shipping function at EMI Industries, a division of LSI Industries. This role oversees daily outbound shipping operations across EMI sites in the US, ensures accurate and timely delivery of customer orders, maintains safety and quality standards, supervises the shipping team, coordinates with production and customer service, and supports overall manufacturing and delivery goals in custom millwork, metal fabrication, refrigeration, and store fixtures environment

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead the shipping team by assigning tasks, providing supervision, technical support, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high productivity, safety, and morale.
  • Ensure employees observe and comply with OSHA standards, company safety regulations, state and federal transportation regulations, and all applicable logistics requirements.
  • Provide accurate and on-time delivery of customer orders by collaborating closely with the
  • Plant Manager, Customer Service Team, production departments, and other stakeholders.
  • Determine appropriate packaging methods and materials to achieve zero freight damage and optimal product protection during transit.
  • Establish, comply with, and audit functional and departmental procedures, standards, and processes for shipping operations.
  • Oversee shipping activities including order picking, packing, labeling, loading, documentation (bills of lading, manifests, freight bills), and dispatching of finished goods such as millwork, metal fixtures, refrigeration units, and store displays.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy in the shipping area, resolve discrepancies, and support cycle counts as needed.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude when working with outside vendors, freight carriers, and logistics partners to secure reliable and cost-effective shipping solutions.
  • Display a sense of urgency in completing tasks, assist in developing solutions to operational problems, and assure the quality of work meets company standards and specifications.
  • Maintain good attendance and promote a positive, safety-first culture.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Plant Manager or Operations leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required to support business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-year degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a similar major, or equivalent work experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse supervision.
  • Proven leadership and human relations skills with experience supervising teams in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret bills of lading, freight bills, other logistics-related documents, and state and federal transportation rules and regulations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems for shipping, inventory, and logistics functions.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of learning new skills as needed.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to team goals.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office programs.
  • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent training in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Experience in retail fixtures, millwork, food service equipment, convenience store, or manufacturing industries is considered an asset.
