Job description

Position Title: Shipping & Receiving Coordinator

Department: Shipping/Receiving – Plant 2, Willoughby, OH

Position Summary:

Be part of a dynamic team at Fusion Inc., a leader in brazing and soldering automation solutions! As our Shipping and Receiving Coordinator, you’ll manage inbound receiving and inspection, prepare domestic and international outbound shipments (including hazardous materials and custom crating), coordinate with carriers to arrange timely shipments and negotiate rates/services. You’ll also drive cross-department coordination with Production, Sales, Customer Service and customers to ensure accurate deliveries while meeting deadlines.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Accurately receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries, documenting any discrepancies on bills of lading
  • Verify packing lists against purchase orders, accurately count and record items, and promptly report discrepancies
  • Stage received materials and notify relevant teams for efficient processing
  • Prepare outgoing shipments by counting, verifying, packaging, and building crates for international deliveries
  • Coordinate with carriers to arrange timely shipments, negotiate rates and services
  • Support cross-department logistics coordination and communicate effectively with internal teams and customers to ensure timely, accurate material flow and meet shipment deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shipping hazardous materials in compliance with DOT, IMO, and IATA regulations
  • Proficient in using ERP systems and shipping software for efficient inventory and shipment management
  • Accurately document shipments, complete all necessary paperwork including hazardous materials documentation, and ensure proper packaging and labeling for safe transport
  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, identify and report equipment issues, defective materials, or safety concerns
  • Maintain adequate inventory of shipping and packing supplies
  • Safely operate lift equipment to handle materials efficiently
  • Support our ISO 9001 certified quality system by following procedures and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong basic math skills
  • 1-2 years of Shipping & Receiving experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to record-keeping accuracy
  • Computer literate with experience using ERP systems and shipping software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Environment and Working Conditions:

This role operates in a manufacturing plant environment. Occasional handling of lead, cadmium, and other chemicals is required while strictly following safety protocols and using appropriate PPE.

The employee must also be able to:

  • Stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely work around industrial materials and equipment.
