Shipping Clerk

Position Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outgoing shipments to customers and distribution centers. This role ensures accurate order fulfillment, proper documentation, and timely delivery while maintaining compliance with company procedures and California safety regulations. The Shipping Clerk works closely with warehouse, production, and customer service teams to support efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process outbound shipments, including picking, packing, labeling, and staging materials
  • Verify shipment accuracy against invoices, packing lists, and customer orders
  • Operate shipping systems (e.g., ERP/WMS, UPS/FedEx portals) to generate shipping labels and documentation
  • Coordinate pickups with carriers and freight companies
  • Inspect packages to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements
  • Maintain records of all outbound shipments, including tracking information and shipping logs
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials handling (if applicable) and DOT regulations
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified)
  • Communicate delays, shortages, or discrepancies to supervisors and appropriate teams
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA standards
  • Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and general warehouse duties as needed.
