Job Description:
Job summary:
Work directly with OEM or OEM agent to coordinate shipping processes finished products to OEM's and or Distributors, ensuring the accuracy of critical documentation for domestic, Canada and Mexico locations while ensuring compliance with shipping regulations. Required to train Shipping Analyst in proper procedures, compliance measures and regulations. This is a customer facing role.
Job responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and schedule shipments directly with customers, customer agents, freight carriers and couriers.

  • Negotiate internal and external arrangements to ensure Customer Satisfaction.

  • Work directly with Order Analysis to obtain the best possible arrangements to the benefit of Allison Transmission.

  • Address disruptions to schedules and production planning to lessen impact to OEM schedules.

  • Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and paperwork for both domestic and international locations.

  • Maintain accurate records of shipping activities.

  • Coordinate and prioritize outbound shipments with warehouse personnel.

  • Ensure company safety policies and regulatory requirements are met at all times.

  • Train Shipping Analyst(s) (both ATI and Contract) in all Key Responsibilities listed above.

Qualifications:
  • Understanding of freight optimization, mode selection and cost control to benefit the customer.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including functions for tracking shipments and creating reports as needed. Strong data accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice. Ability to handle exceptions, disruptions and last-minute shipment changes.

  • Strong communication with carriers, suppliers, warehouse teams and customer service. High level of organization and urgency.

  • Ability to work independently. Provide oversite of Shipping Analyst(s) work activities and documentation accuracy.

Experience:
  • 5 plus years of experience in shipping, logistics or warehouse operations.

  • Demonstrated experience in support of DOD shipping requirements.

  • 5 years in a shipment coordinator-level role.

  • Hands-on experience processing domestic and international bound shipments.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing key documents like bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, etc.

  • Familiarity with carrier scheduling, and freight booking. Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.

  • Working directly with carriers of all transportation modes.

  • Ability to address production disruption impacts to OEM schedules in order to maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to train others.

  • Situational experience resolving carrier delays, shipment discrepancies or documentation issues.

  • Working under tight deadlines and adjusting to last-minute changes.

Scope factors:
  • Position has direct impact on company revenue success by scheduling and processing on-time shipments, and the accuracy of processing post goods issue data on a daily basis.

  • Must train Shipping Analyst(s) to provide exceptional customer interaction in a professional manner.
