The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials throughout the facility. This position plays a key role in supporting production by maintaining inventory accuracy, operating material handling equipment safely, and ensuring customer orders are prepared and shipped on time.


This is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and extensive forklift operating experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, be comfortable working with manufacturing equipment and materials, and be willing to cross-train and assist with production operations as business needs require.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.ย 
  • Unload and load trucks safely using forklifts and other materialย handling equipment.ย 
  • Move raw materials, finished goods, and work-in-process throughout the facility.ย 
  • Pick, stage, package, and prepare customer orders for shipment.ย 
  • Perform shipping transactions using ERP and shipping software.ย 
  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts and inventory transactions.ย 
  • Inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly.ย 
  • Maintain warehouse organization and material locations.ย 
  • Follow FIFO inventory practices where applicable.ย 
  • Operate forklifts safely while following all company safety policies. ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Assist production personnel with material requests.ย 
  • Cross-train in production processes and provide support on the manufacturing floor as needed.ย 
  • Operate production equipment safely after receiving appropriate training.ย 
  • Assist with assembly, packaging, material preparation, or other production activities as assigned.ย 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and production work environment.ย

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.ย 
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.ย 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn manufacturing equipment and production processes.ย 
  • Ability to accurately receive, store, move, and ship materials while maintaining inventory accuracy.ย 
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use ERP, inventory, and shipping software.ย 
  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, packing slips, work orders, and inventory records.ย 
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.ย 
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.ย 
  • Willingness to cross-train and support production operations as business needs require.ย 
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, and frequent forklift operation.ย

  • Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and FIFO inventory practices.ย
