Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced shipping clerk at our Gaithersburg, MD location. This individual will be responsible for packing, labeling and shipping all outbound customer orders, as well as accepting and inspecting deliveries, and verifying the quantity and accuracy of items received.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Pack, seal, and label customer orders in order to prepare for shipping
  • Prepare documents, such as bills of lading or commercial invoices to route packages
  • Identify and implement best-practices with regards to packing in order to achieve minimal damage to shipped goods
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to resolve issues related to package deliveries or shipments
  • Inspect boxes for visual damages; record damages or short shipments. Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy
  • Manage inventory of all shipping supplies
  • Ensure materials are stored properly and follow the 5S methodology to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
  • Ensure the physical condition of the shipping department and equipment are properly maintained
  • Performs all work in compliance with Xometry's quality and safety systems, policies and procedures

What You'll Bring to Xometry:

  • 2+ years relative work experience
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work in a fast-paced high-volume shipping environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Basic computer skills; experience with FedEx Shipping Manager and UPS WorldShip software preferred
