Dry Shipping Manager

Location: Peoria, AZ

Position Summary

World Class Distribution is seeking an experienced Dry Shipping Manager to lead and oversee all outbound shipping operations within a high-volume, fast-paced food distribution center. This leader will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction, developing high-performing teams, and achieving productivity, safety, and quality goals while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive experience managing warehouse operations, shipping, inventory, and large teams within a food or wholesale distribution environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for the Dry Shipping Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate outbound operations.
  • Manage and develop supervisors, leads, office personnel, and warehouse associates while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Drive departmental performance by monitoring labor, productivity, quality, service levels, and key operational metrics.
  • Develop staffing plans, oversee scheduling, approve PTO, and support performance management, coaching, and employee development.
  • Partner with Operations, Inventory, Transportation, Receiving, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service to ensure seamless daily execution.
  • Oversee shipping accuracy, trailer utilization, load planning, and on-time customer deliveries.
  • Investigate customer concerns, shipment discrepancies, and operational issues while implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, sanitation requirements, company policies, OSHA regulations, and warehouse best practices.
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational reporting to analyze trends, improve efficiencies, and support business decisions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence on the warehouse floor while promoting employee engagement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of warehouse leadership experience within a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Previous experience managing shipping, outbound operations, or warehouse departments.
  • Experience leading multiple supervisors, leads, and warehouse associates.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping, logistics, and labor management.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Microsoft Office, and operational reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing KPIs, productivity, quality, safety, and customer service metrics.
  • Food, grocery, wholesale, or cold storage distribution experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent leadership experience will be considered
