Job description

Shipping Material Handler II

Shipping Material Handler IIs are responsible for safe, timely, and accurate staging, stocking, pulling, and/or loading of finished goods manually and by use of power equipment. Shipping Material Handler IIs will support accuracy of inventory through accurate daily work, cycle counts, and root cause analysis of discrepancies.

Shipping Material Handler II responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Verify product quantities, labels, and other shipping documentation to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
  • Ensure material system transfers are completed per procedures.
  • Utilize WMS and ERP to process shipments, track and maintain inventory records, and perform cycle counts to minimize discrepancies and stock shortages.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Pick, stage, and prepare orders for shipment while ensuring accuracy and preventing product damage.
  • Train incoming employees on shipping procedures, inventory processes, equipment operation, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to improve team productivity, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Prioritize daily shipping tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Keep work areas organized, and materials properly staged to support safe and productive operations.
  • Understand and meet all carrier requirements for LTL, parcel, and specialty shipments.
  • Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, order issues, or shipping problems, working cross-functionally with Production, Customer Service, Order Entry, and Sales to achieve timely resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide feedback and suggestions to support process improvements.
  • Maintain productivity individually and as a group by assisting others in the department with task completion when individual work is finished.

Qualifications for the Shipping Material Handler II include:

  • Excellent attention to detail, and problem solving.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to stay on task at all times.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouses with 2 years focused in shipping.
  • 2+ years of power equipment operation.
  • 2+ years of WMS exp, and basic understanding of ERP systems.
  • Understanding of inventory management including cycle counts.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • LEAN and Continuous Improvement experience preferred.

The starting pay rate for this position is anticipated to be from $20-25 hourly dependent upon experience.
