Job Overview: Facility Material Coordinator / Shipping lead is responsible for coordinating daily shipping activities while ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials throughout the facility. This role also performs the responsibilities of the Facility Material Coordinator, including inventory control, material transfers, purchase requisitions, and maintenance parts coordination to support production and plant operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring materials are available to support business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Material Coordinator
  • Ensure that Health and Safety rules and GMP regulations are adhered to at all times and all relating matters are managed while using the company resources in line with the Health/Safety and GMP policies.
  • Fully responsibility of the forecasting, scheduling, purchase requisitioning, receiving, qualification, tracking, transfer and inventorying all raw materials.
  • Fully responsible for sourcing, price comparing/lead-time, purchase requisitioning and receiving of all items necessary for plant operations.
  • Inter-plant transfers, work order generation and work order batch closing.
  • Ensure clear communication is given either verbally or written to all members of staff.
  • Identify root causes and take a fast-effective action to resolve any opportunity that arises by using problem solving skills.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisor to ensure all materials necessary for production on all shifts are available while using effective communication tools.
  • Maintain an active role in the company's continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
  • Make appropriate decisions while following the company's organizational structure.

Shipping
  • Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials and finished goods.
  • Prepare, review, and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and other required paperwork.
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using a forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Operate forklifts and maintain certification in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, quantity, and quality.
  • Stage finished goods and raw materials for shipment or production while ensuring proper inventory transactions are completed.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries while communicating any shipment delays or issues to the appropriate departments.
  • Maintain shipping records and ensure all transactions are accurately entered into the ERP system.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory verification to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Customer Service, and other departments to meet shipping schedules and customer requirements.
  • Ensure shipping and warehouse areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Perform other shipping and warehouse duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Ideal Candidate: This is a role for someone who is dynamic, self-driven, results-oriented, and above all, who has a positive "CAN DO" outlook. VPET is looking for an organized, forward planning, logical thinker.
  • Schedule: Candidate must be able to work extended hours on occasions and when required. Must be able to work all shifts and attend meetings when needed.
  • Specific Job Skills: Candidate must be able to communicate effectively and motivate coherently, both verbal and written, under the principles of manufacturing. Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft systems software.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 3 years working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in the materials department., or within an equivalent capacity; ideally in a plastics manufacturing facility.
