Job description

Job Title: Shipping Coordinator (Documentation)/ Traffic Clerk

Shift Time: 7am-3:30pm
Onsite: Lori Road, Chesterfield VA 23832
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing administrative support to the traffic function of the organization
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
• Responsible for all aspects of logging orders, routing, shipping, and tracking of outbound orders.
• Responsible for obtaining freight charges for all shipments shipped; prepare paperwork (separate bills of ladings, delivery
receipts and stamp date) for the billing department.
• Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for recordkeeping purposes.
• Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of material.
• Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications.
• Compute amounts, such as space available and shipping, storage, and demurrage.

Education: Requires a high school diploma/GED or 2 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area
Experience: Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the particular field.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Word,Excel,Access, Outlook and Explorer
Mathematical Abilities: Accuracy in data entry and basic math skills required
Analytical or Reasoning Abilities: Ability to handle instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning) Professional verbal communication skills required
Other Skills (Technical, or Other special knowledge and abilities) Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team
