Job description

Distribution Supervisor / Warehouse Supervisor

Shippers Supply | Golden Valley, MN

Small company, big impact, growing strong since 1928.

Looking for a place where your leadership is noticed and your ideas actually move things? Shippers Supply has been solving packaging challenges for our customers since 1928. We have built a small-company culture that runs on teamwork, professionalism, fun, and real entrepreneurial spirit, the kind of place where YOU can make a difference.

We are on the corner of Douglas Drive and Hwy 55 in Golden Valley, right next to Hwy 100.

About the role

As Distribution Supervisor, you own daily warehouse operations. You make sure product is received, stored, and delivered safely, accurately, and on time, and you lead the team that makes it happen. This is a hands-on leadership role: you coach and develop your people, drive continuous improvement, and step onto the floor alongside them when the day calls for it.

Why Shippers Supply

Stable and growing (nearly 100 years and counting), a tight team that has fun and takes the work seriously, a daytime weekday schedule, and a culture where one person really can make a difference.

Lead the team

  • Own the full employee lifecycle for your team: interview, hire, onboard, and train new Warehouse Associates
  • Set daily, weekly, and monthly priorities, assign work, and hold the team accountable to results
  • Coach and develop your people day to day, building skills and readiness for the next step
  • Manage performance directly: set clear expectations, give regular feedback, run reviews, and handle corrective action up to and including termination as needed
  • Motivate and engage the team, and foster a culture of Operational Excellence on the floor
  • Track and analyze team and department metrics, goals, and budgets

Run the operation

  • Own order fulfillment: accurate, timely receipt, storage, retrieval, and delivery of product to company standards
  • Manage freight carriers and third-party logistics for on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost
  • Keep inventory accurate through cycle counts and location audits
  • Review daily customer order paperwork and equipment logs
  • Analyze shipping and receiving volume, monitor overall workload, and prepare and provide performance metrics and KPIs
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Warehousing and 5S, and help implement new technologies and equipment
  • Utilize new technologies, including AI, to streamline processes and procedures
  • Lead continuous improvement workshops and projects
  • Ensure a safe, compliant environment (OSHA, ISO 9001:2015) and oversee equipment maintenance
  • Partner across departments to deliver a seamless experience for internal and external customers
  • Step onto the floor and perform the work of your team when the day calls for it

Schedule

Warehouse operating hours are 7am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. Schedule will be between those hours depending on team needs. No nights, no weekends.

What we're looking for

  • 5 or more years of warehouse and/or logistics experience
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience, with a track record leading both processes and people
  • Solid knowledge of warehouse, transportation, and logistics best practices and safety standards
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and familiarity with ERP and/or WMS systems
  • Strong problem-solving: able to anticipate, analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex issues
  • Prior forklift certification

Work environment

  • On your feet roughly 8 hours a day
  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs
  • Warehouse setting with dust, occasional noise, and temperature changes as dock doors open and close
  • Safe operation of forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment
