This is a Sherman Associates owned Marriott International, Inc franchised location.

The Housekeeping Runner (Houseperson) plays a key support role within the Housekeeping Department. This position assists Room Attendants by stripping rooms of dirty linens, towels, and garbage, and later returning to make beds so that Room Attendants can focus on cleaning and finishing rooms.

Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability to include both weekdays and weekends. Shifts are 9am - 4pm.

Pay: $15-15.50/hour

Essential Functions

  • Strip assigned guestrooms by removing dirty linens and towels and emptying trash and debris
  • Return to rooms after stripping to make beds for Room Attendants
  • Collect and transport soiled linen and trash to designated areas
  • Refill and transport clean linens to Room Attendants or linen closets as needed
  • Maintain organization of linens and supplies in floor pantries
  • Assist Room Attendants with light tasks as needed (e.g., delivering linen bundles, assisting with lifting mattresses when making beds)
  • Respond to guest and colleague requests in a friendly, helpful manner
  • Report any found items, damages, or maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Perform other support duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of this role

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • No prior housekeeping experience required; customer service experience in the hospitality industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment
  • Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates
  • Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, federal, state and local hotel laws regarding health and safety services

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites
  • The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
  • Exposure to/handling of biological substances such as blood, urine, and vomit

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200-lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
  • Requires frequent kneeling, squatting, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
