Job Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Construction Superintendent, performs a wide range of carpentry tasks. Tasks include wood/metal wall framing, installation of sheetrock, finishing of sheetrock, installation of commercial doors and hardware, sanding and painting of sheetrock walls, installation, painting and/or staining of millwork, installation of ceiling grid and tiles, and other general carpentry repair tasks.
Pay Rate: $34.41
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Performs maintenance, repairs, and new construction work on items such as foundations, concrete form work, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of exterior siding, all floor covering, sub-floors, catwalks, commercial doors/frames, windows, partitions, sheetrock hanging-finishing, painting, millwork installation, ceiling grid/tile installations and all other building components as necessary.
  • Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models and verbal and written instructions.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Plans, organizes work and meets all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
  • Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Performs periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Operates Government or company-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
  • Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
  • Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations.
  • Adheres to the company safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to complete tasks utilizing a written schedule.
  • Understands air quality standards and how to apply them.
  • Ability to work alternate shifts as required.
  • Ability to travel out of state to a maximum of 25%.
  • Performs a wide range of construction activities and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • A minimum of Five (5) years of experience in commercial carpentry trade performing tasks associated with job summary and duties.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • General knowledge of air quality standards.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required level security clearance.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred
  • Broad based knowledge of woodworking techniques and construction methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial doors and windows.
  • Possess the required level security clearance.
  • Experience working in a government environment/facility.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
