EMR, Inc. is seeking experienced Carpenters, Concrete Finishers and/or Sheetrock Laborers for federal construction projects. The job can include, but is not limited to: interpreting blueprints, reading survey stakes, estimating concrete volume required, setting up concrete formwork, and mixing and placing concrete. Additional carpentry responsibilities may include setting doors & frames, and installing hardware & plumbing accessories & fixtures. The successful candidate will help coordinate material deliveries and perform utility and site work. The individual may be assigned to other construction projects as available and as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities May Include, but are not Limited to:
- Interpret blueprints and read survey stakes to estimate concrete quantities and establish correct grades
- Build, erect, and arrange concrete forms and molds
- Anchor and brace forms and other structures using various fasteners
- Cut and place wire mesh and/or rebar reinforcement
- Spread, smooth, and level concrete in segments removing all lumps and bubbles using appropriate tools
- Fine finish concrete by floating, trowelling, edging, and brushing in accordance with specifications
- Use wood or plastic forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it is set.
- Smooth high spots, fill depressions & air pockets, and finish corners
- Make concrete beams, columns, and panels
- Wash away excess concrete
- Apply latex and epoxy to floors
- Cut pavers
- Use chemical additives to speed up drying process if necessary
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Other construction responsibilities as requested such as light cleaning

Required Experience, Education, Skills, and Certifications
- 5 years combined experience as a carpenter/laborer in the construction industry
- Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete construction and maintenance
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to concrete formwork and cement masonry work
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and make simple calculations in order to read survey stakes and calculate areas and volumes
- Ability to instruct and direct the work of unskilled and semi-skilled assistants
- Ability to maintain simple accurate records
- Skill in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work
- Rough and finish carpentry experience
- Site work / utilities installation experience
- Experience with door & frame installation
- Experience with fixture & accessory installation
- Good communication skills
- High school diploma

Essential Requirements
- Climb to elevated platforms and work on scaffolding for extended periods of time
- Lift up to 75 pounds
- Sit, stoop, crawl, kneel, and stand for long periods of time
- Walk on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day
- Work around moving equipment
- Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle driving record
- Reliable transportation to work
- Pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical are required

- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
- Fit and move in confined space
- Limited working surfaces
- Exposure to noise above 85 decibels
- Exposure to areas with limited visibility

Preferred Experience, Education, Skills, and Certifications
- Forklift certification
- Construction equipment operator experience
- Firestop certification
